LanzaTech’s Project Dragon Green Light

LanzaTech has secured planning permission for Project Dragon, a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility located in the proposed Port Talbot Tax Site.

This plant will convert ethanol into approximately 100 million litres of SAF annually, meeting about 1% of the UK’s jet fuel demand and reducing lifecycle emissions by over 70%.

The project is expected to create over 150 full-time jobs, including 85 on-site positions.

Located within the Celtic Freeport, it aligns with regional decarbonisation goals and will support the UK Government’s 2030 domestic SAF production and use targets.

Construction is due to begin in 2025, with operations commencing in 2026 or 2027, subject to final investment decisions.
