Ocean Winds, the 50:50 joint venture between EDPR and ENGIE, has secured seabed rights from The Crown Estate for a third 1.5 GW floating offshore wind (FLOW) site in the Celtic Sea.
Welcoming the announcement, Luciana Ciubotariu, CEO of the Celtic Freeport commented: “A major milestone for future investment.
“Congratulations to OW Ocean Winds on securing the rights to a third 1.5GW floating offshore wind farm (FLOW) in the Celtic Sea. The Celtic Freeport partners look forward to supporting OW Ocean Winds – alongside Equinor and Gwynt Glas – in developing one of the world’s largest FLOW arrays.
“There is still a long way ahead to make it happen, but that’s how transformational projects go, one day at a time – and today is a very good day in the journey.”
The Celtic Freeport and its partners remain committed to enabling the infrastructure, skills and supply chain needed to maximise the economic impact of these transformative projects.
