Search for permanent CEO starts

The Celtic Freeport is seeking our first permanent Chief Executive to take the lead in bringing this vital project to completion.

The Celtic Freeport has a vision to create a green investment corridor to help drive major inward investment, future skills development and national decarbonisation. As we develop our global development platform, we need a leader to champion new partnerships to bring this vision for change to reality,”
Roger Maggs MBE
Chair of Celtic Freeport

The Celtic Freeport is an exciting project that will unlock the widest possible opportunities for Wales by accelerating innovation and encouraging significant investment, while fast-tracking modern skills for new green industries and national decarbonisation.

We are a public-private consortium whose partners include Associated British Ports (ABP), Neath Port Talbot Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and the Port of Milford Haven. With development sites throughout Neath Port Talbot and Pembrokeshire, we will support the development of 16,000 new green jobs, generate £5.5 billion of new investment, and accelerate the roll-out of floating offshore wind, the hydrogen economy and the production of sustainable fuels.

We are seeking our first permanent Chief Executive to take the lead in bringing this vital project to fruition.

You will bring your exceptional commercial acumen to bear, helping us to unlock the considerable potential of our region. A natural convenor, you will work across our partners, landowners, supply chains and beyond for the greater good of our residents. You will act as a global and national ambassador for the Freeport and the broader region, liaising with industry and government on a national and international stage, as well as local communities. Above all, you will ensure that we fulfil our commitment to deliver prosperity and economic growth, driving maximum value from our tremendous built and natural assets.

You will be an executive with a track record of delivery, and strong commercial experience. Whilst we welcome applications from public or private sector candidates, we will be looking for you to demonstrate that you can work across both – and ideally have experience of doing so.

A natural convenor and influential leader, you will have a track record of working across and beyond organisational boundaries, bringing people together behind a vision for economic prosperity. You will have made a difference to one or more places before, and will actively enjoy making this type of contribution. You will also share our values, and our commitment to delivering better social and economic outcomes for the people of our region, alongside the development of a cleaner, greener and more energy-independent UK.

To apply, please contact our executive search partners, GatenbySanderson, for a confidential discussion: Seb Lowe (seb.lowe@gatenbysanderson.com) or Rebecca Hopkin (rebecca.hopkin@gatenbysanderson.com).

Closing date: Monday 16 October 2023
